Broadway Limited HO Track Inspection Theater Car - Ready to Run -- Union Pacific Fox River (1995-2006 Scheme, Armour Yellow, gray, red)
The Broadway Limited HO Scale Track Inspection Theater Car is a remarkable model based on the car modified by the Chicago & North Western, but similar to those used on other railroads.
Historical Background
- Originally built in 1954 by Pullman-Standard for Canadian National as a sleeper, this car served CN and VIA Rail Canada until 1984.
- It was rebuilt in the Milwaukee Rail Car shop and transformed into a theater-inspection car for the Chicago & North Western Railway (CNW).
- In 1985, the car was purchased by CNW, renumbered as 420, and named "Fox River" after the beloved river central to CNW's Wisconsin territory.
- After the 1995 Union Pacific-CNW merger, the Fox River joined UP's roster, receiving a comprehensive renovation in 1997 and a fresh paint update in 2006.
The car is often seen bringing up the markers on UP business trains, and other railroads operate similar inspection cars on their business trains. This model is offered in several schemes to reflect this diversity.
