Cambria and Indiana Bicentennial
The Cambria and Indiana Railroad was a scrappy shortline buried in the heart of Pennsylvania's coal country. At one point, they generated the most revenue per mile hauling coal out of the mines, headed to one of Bethlehem Steel's plants.
In 1976, as the USA was celebrating its 200th Anniversary, the C&I joined in on the fun, repainting SW9 number 36 in "Spirit of '76" colors. Even the trucks were painted white and blue!
Features of the C&I Bicentennial SW9:
- Modified headlight
- Hancock 4710 air whistle (without reflector)
- Plain bearing Flexicoil trucks
- Hood-mounted handrails
